In the beginning...

Why I started:

I like watching online videos on PC strategy games. I was into PC strategy games like XCom, Jagged Alliance, Warcraft 2, Star Craft, Total War, and WarHammer 40k.

I know that 40k was a table top game first before the company started dabbling into video games. But, I don't have much knowledge of the world at first. I just played Dawn of War, Dark Crusade and Space Marine. But then, I moved to a new city and left lots of my stuff behind, including my PC.

So I decided to watch some “BatReps” online. I was bored. And there I saw an add for Infinity.

Infinity is different compared to Warhammer 40k in that you're in-command of fewer troops with unique characteristics. Like X-Com. This makes wargaming a bit more "personal".

How I started:

Before starting, I did a lot of watching:
  • Looking at Battle Reports (batrep) to know the game.
  • A bunch of miniature tutorials regardless of the type.
  • Tutorials on how to prep, how to base, how to prime.
  • More tutorials on painting like preparing the plate for a wet pallet.
  • Painting techniques: base coats, dry brushing, blending, highlighting.

Then I took the plunge...

I bought my first starter pack. I was hoping to find the Japanese Sectoral Army but at the time, the only available one is Haqqislam, Adriana and ALEPH. I chose the ALEPH for 2 reasons, they have robot looking pieces and they have the least color at the time I looked at the boxes.
